ASTRO-ON-THE-GO: MULTISCREEN
Astro All Asia Networks is the largest media and entertainment company in Malaysia. With its affiliation with Fetch TV, we were tasked with designing and developing a set of multiscreen channels (Website, iPhone, iPad, Android Phone and Android Tablet) for their Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming service that will also be available in regional countries. As the main UX Architect at Fetch TV, I was tasked to lead the project from a UX design perspective ensuring that the user requirements are integrated into the solution along with the business and technical requirements.
Discovery and Definition
As part of the Fetch TV project team, we travelled over to Malaysia to meet with the client and to focus on ascertaining detailed requirements.
Subsequently, the following proto-personas were identified:
1. Sitti (Malaysian overseas student - Potential user)
2. Rusli (Malaysian expat - Existing Astro customer)
3. Roy (Malaysian expat - Potential user)
Moreover, I also created scenarios for each of the personas to help understand the motivations of users and the functions that will compliment their motivations. User Scenarios can also suggest new functional requirements which may not have been previously thought about, hence it was quite important that they are created and analysed.
Ideation, Prototyping and Testing
End Result and Conclusion
After several months of extensive collaboration with our client while integrating user, business and technical requirements to formulate our design solutions, the project was launched with great satisfaction from both parties at Fetch TV and Astro All Asia Networks. Great UX is truly built on collaboration while thinking about the requirements from all facets of the business along with the technical capability and of course the end users.
